Cats Need Canned Food

As the pet parent of many cats, I want to make sure that they are as healthy as possible.

Within my research, I’ve discovered that dry food can cause more harm to cats than anything else. Dry food is full of carbs, which is why so many cats become obese. While cats are lucky to be considered beautiful when overweight :), the extra weight can lead to many health problems down the road.

Household products linked to pet cancer

Many people are not aware of the harmful chemicals that are in the household products they buy. Such chemicals can be deadly for your pet. If your pet has been exposed to any toxic products, even in small doses, the chemical additives can add up and be  carcinogenic.  It is best to get rid of any toxic household/lawn products and replace them with more safe products.  (more…)

Pet Parenthood through Life and Death

As a pet owner, I don’t look at my pets as just another animal.

I love my pets. They are a part of my family. They are my children and I am their mom. I worry about them the same way I would a child, i.e. make sure they’re warm and comfortable, make sure their healthy and happy. As a professional pet sitter, I know my clients feel the same way about their pets.

With this in mind, we know our pets will not live as long as us and that the day will come when we have to say goodbye.

It’s a thought all pet owners dread and don’t want to think about, but is a fact that all pet owners must face. Many people don’t understand the emotion behind losing a pet, wondering why someone would grieve over a dog or a cat. Unless we have other friends or family who understand our love for our pets, it is hard to talk about our grief. The pain of losing a pet is real and we should not be embarrassed about it. If we spent the time loving our pets, how could we just forget them and move on without grieving for them? (more…)
