Be the Change for Animals-Help Shelter Animals!
Saturday, January 15th, 2011Today I learned about the “Blog the Change for Animals“, a site that is encouraging all bloggers to write about their favorite cause that helps animals.
I’ve already written one post on my other blog site at Dasher’s Window to Wellness. In the post, I write about a wonderful memorial fund that supports ex-puppy mill dogs and dogs with serious health issues. I also decided to bring attention to another dedicated cause, a local nonprofit rescue organization named Strangest Angels Rescue.
Strangest Angels Rescue was founded by Elle Wittelsbach. Elle focuses on helping animals on deathrow, as well as abused, neglected, senior and disabled animals.
In the photo to the right is Sylvester. He’s one of the recent dogs rescued by Strangest Angels Rescue. He has two uncomfortable masses that need to be removed. Surgery is estimated to be around $700.00. Sylvester is just one of many of the dogs rescued by Strangest Angels that is in need of medical care. The vet bills are never ending. Since Strangest Angels is a nonprofit organization, they rely on donations to pay for all medical bills for the animals they rescue.
Strangest Angels Rescue is close to my heart as I adopted a dog from them in April 2010.
Norman is his name. Elle was kind enough to bring him to my house so that I could meet him and make sure he’d fit into my pack. It was love at first sight. To think that Norman was on the “red list” just because he was a “senior dog”. If it wasn’t for Elle taking Norman in, who knows if he would’ve made it out of the shelter alive.
In honor of Norman being rescued from the shelter the week of my birthday last year, I’m throwing a fundraiser for my birthday wish to help Strangest Angels with their vet bills and to help them be able to rescue more dogs that are on deathrow.
My birthday is at the end of January, so I’m hoping we can reach our goal by January 31, 2011. If you can network the FUNDRAISER FOR STRANGEST ANGELS RESCUE to help out a wonderful rescue organization, you’d be making a positive difference! Even if you can’t make a donation, you can help by spreading the word.
