Brandy was rescued from a shelter the day after Christmas in 2008.

One day before Thanksgiving 2008, Brandy was turned into the shelter while giving birth to her pups.

She had twelve puppies–nine of the pups died in the shelter. Brandy and her three remaining pups were rescued the day after Christmas 2008.

Brandy had several different infections.

Her breast milk was full of infection, which is what the puppies were nursing on prior to being rescued. The remaining three puppies were immediately changed to goat’s milk. Brandy and her three remaining puppies were also put on strong antibiotics and fluids immediately after being rescued.

Sadly, it was too late for the remaining puppies.

The boy pup died January 1, 2009 and the two girl pups died on January 5th, 2009.

The two girl puppies died on January 5, 2009. Their small bodies could not defeat the infection. Thanks to their rescuer, they only knew love during their finals days.

When Brandy was rescued from the shelter, she was very skinny, weighing only 32 pounds.

The antibiotics were able to clear up all infections except for the infection in her eyes. Her lower lids were turned in and her eye lashes were constantly scratching her eyes. As a result, this caused a continual infection and horrible discomfort for Brandy, to the point of not being able to open her eyes.

Brandy has made a beautiful recovery.

Currently she weighs 57 lbs and is an absolute gorgeous girl with shiny red fur. She had eye surgery on March 15, 2009 so she can now open her eyes!  She is spayed as well.

Brandy is a wonderful girl and loves everybody!

Although she is hesitant with new people, she invites all dogs to play. We don’t know how she would be with cats, though when she sees the feral cats outside, she doesn’t seem to care about them. She does need training; however, she wants to please her people so she will respond nicely!
