Sunday Spotlight: MSFR.org helps Dogs in Need

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

Miniature Schnauzers and Friends Rescue (MSFR.org) is an all volunteer 501(c)(3) non profit pet rescue organization based in the Los Angeles-South Bay area.

They offer second chances to dogs that would otherwise not make it out of the shelter alive. While they specialize in Miniature Schnauzers, they also rescue dogs of different breeds varying in sizes and ages. Most of the dogs rescued by MSFR.org come from LA county shelters, but they also get strays and sometimes owner surrenders.

Shelter photo of one earred dog... taken back in Feb 13th... a volunteer did even out his hair on his head... can you believe the owners clipped him like this, cut off good portion of his ear then dumped him.

MSFR.org just rescued this dog. This is the shelter photo Can you believe the owners clipped him like this, cut off good portion of his ear then dumped him at the shelter?

If you’re looking to do a good deed, consider supporting Miniature Schnauzers and Friends Rescue. You don’t not have to live near by to help.

One of the ways you can support MSFR.org is through “sponsoring” a foster dog.  If you are in the area, foster homes are always needed as well as volunteers for Saturday adoptions.

Each Saturday you can find Miniature Schnauzers and Friends at the Petco in Redondo Beach at 537 N PCH from 12 pm to 4 pm.

For Bubbie

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

On the afternoon of Friday February 26, 2010, Bubbie crossed over to the other side. My sister in-law, (Bubbie’s Mom) adopted Bubbie when she was a kitten, rescued her from a shelter. Bubbie lived to be 20 years old!

I was able to connect with Bubbie for a brief moment prior to her passing though I wasn’t anywhere near her. In fact, I was walking dogs when I heard Bubbie talking to me.   As soon as I found out Bubbie was getting ready to jump the rainbow, I directed my thoughts to her, telling her it was a privilege to know her. Immediately after, I felt my entire body go numb and I don’t know how else to describe it other than I heard Bubbie say “I didn’t live this damn long to not go on my own.” Yes, she said “damn”.  For whatever reason, Bubbie wanted me to know that she HAD to leave her body on her own.  I also could tell based on how numb I felt that Bubbie wasn’t in any pain. About an hour later, Bubbie passed away in her mom’s arms, on her own.

Peace to you, Bubbie. It was an honor connecting with you before you made your exit.
